Kran will set up an office this month and in 2024 with a nanobubble machine factory, both in the state of California, and estimates that by the end of that year, this market will account for 20% of its revenue.
Kran , a startup that develops solutions with nanobubbles to save water or energy in companies, is packing its bags to open offices this month in the state of California, in the United States, the first country outside Chile in which it will have facilities.
Martín Castro, from the Krail team, commented that they opted for this market, because “California is one of the areas with the greatest water scarcity in the world, and it has gone through similar situations to Chile, so it was a good market for us to contribute to solutions. And in addition, in this state, one of the leading companies manufacturing nanobubble machines is located.”
He added that the advantages of working closely with one of his competitors “is that it opens the doors for you, because it is a market where you don’t have to start from scratch to tell what nanobubbles are and what they are for, so there is already an armed base. With this, we can compete on price and with our proposal.”
For now, Kran’s Research and Development (R+D) manager, Manuel Vial, and the deputy industrial manager, Alejandro Hernández, will settle in that country and they hope to complete the team with positions such as a country manager, starting next year.
The startup manufactures nanobubble generating machines from of gas – such as oxygen, ozone or nitrogen – to deliver solutions to companies in the mining, agricultural, industrial and aquaculture sectors, in aspects such as efficient use of water, saving of water resources, reduction of chemicals in agriculture, energy savings in industrial process plants and wastewater treatment.
Projections
Castro said that during the first half of 2024, they will finalize their operations in the U.S. with the installation of a nanobubble machine factory so as not to import them from Chile, and he expects that by the end of that year, this market will represent 20% of Kran’s total revenues.
“This also has to be accompanied by having U.S. personnel, such as developers, hydraulic engineers and other professionals, who also help us scale according to the local culture and market,” he said.
The startup has had the support of Socialab, the accelerator of the brewery AB InBev, Endeavor , and they are part of the guild of clean technology startups, ClimaTech.
Outside of Chile, they have carried out projects with companies in more than 10 countries, including the Philippines, Japan, Australia, Peru, Brazil and Portugal.
Castro commented that each year, they allocate about 50% of their income to advance in R+D, and in 2024 they hope to venture into the world of food, and with greater depth in the mining sector.
