Chile: For its expansion plan to the United States, the Chilean startup carried out a new round of capital raising, with Amarena and Invexor as the main contributors.

The southern company, dedicated to the development of applications with nanobubbles to generate solutions with productive and environmental impact, in processes where a liquid is incorporated, is taking giant steps in its strategy of internationalization.

With offices in Santiago and Puerto Varas and in two weeks in Palo Alto, California (Silicon Valley), it also plans to open offices in Guayaquil, Ecuador, in the coming months.

The infinite potential of nanobubbles and their applications, added to the scientific and applied engineering development that the company has generated in these 6 years, has allowed it – during a process of almost 18 months – to generate the market conditions to settle in the northern country.

The expansion project to the United States will be led by civil engineer Marcelo Vega, a Chilean who has lived in that country for 18 years, with an extensive network and experience in innovation and development of new technologies.

The expansion policy required a new capital raise, an opportunity that was closely watched by the Venture Capital market, materializing the incorporation of Amarena (Patricia Angelini’s Family Office) and Invexor Venture Partners, which increased its participation, thanks to the fact that it had already participated in a previous round.

“We are proud to have been born under the wing of the salmon farming industry, an industry that has not only generated opportunities for thousands of families in southern Chile, but has also been a beacon to be imitated by emerging economies, where world-class technological development opportunities are generated,” said Jaime de la Cruz, CEO and founder of Kran, in conversation with Salmonexpert.

Applications

The supplier company has developed around 20 commercial applications and has several more in the validation stage, for which the permanent contact with academia gives it a characteristic scientific and technological bias.

With its Agricultural, Aquaculture and Industrial divisions, it has allowed it to have a menu of services and products ranging from raw water (tributary) that feeds industrial processes, to wastewater (effluent), completing the entire production cycle, with clients as varied as large salmon farms, breweries, fancy drinks, mining, petrochemicals, mussel producers, paper mills, cosmetics, fruit growers, packing, sanitary, etc., and with a presence in countries such as Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Ecuador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, France and Peru.

In the aquaculture industry, applications for fish farms and process plants in hygiene and water quality stand out, in microbiological reduction through the use of Flow ice and ice with nanobubbles, in RILes treatments in metal abatement and efficiency of primary and/or secondary processes; Applications that have the benefit of the efficient use of water resources, reducing washing times, use of chemicals and improving the quality of the fresh raw material (and at destination), several of which have already been patented and/or are in the process of being patented.

For farming centers, its pioneering seabed and water column remediation service, continues to operate as a provider validated by Subpesca, focused on deepening the professionalization of the service in terms of its operational control, recovery rates and effective work times.
