Seabed remediation.

Kran was founded in late 2016, dedicating its early years to research and prototyping. In 2018, it began commercial operations, marking the start of its nanobubble-based seabed remediation service. According to Martín Castro, Kran’s commercial director, since then they have grown significantly in both turnover and applications for various industries. “Born under the wing of salmon farming, today we have more than 20 applications in different productive sectors and countries. These range from irrigation in agriculture to industrial applications that optimize processes related to water use, such as plant hygiene and wastewater treatment. Since 2019, we have achieved international sales in Brazil, Spain, Honduras, Guatemala, the Philippines, and Portugal. However, it was in 2023 when we began a more robust internationalization process, opening offices in the United States and adding new strategic implementations in various markets,” Castro points out.

With roots in Puerto Varas, Kran’s expansion has led them to open offices in Santiago and San Francisco, as well as establish commercial alliances in markets such as Ecuador, Italy, Norway, and Spain. This growth has also been reflected in its ability to serve new sectors, such as shrimp in Ecuador, where it has been operating for more than two years, and the salmon industry in Norway, in collaboration with a local strategic partner.

The internationalization of Chilean companies such as Kran has been a key strategy for facing the challenges of highly regulated and competitive markets. Its plan for 2025 seeks to expand its services in other aquaculture markets, based on innovative and sustainable solutions that address production and environmental issues in a way that can be replicated globally. “Our projects outside Chile have been very well received, increasing demand and closing implementations in Brazil, Spain, Ecuador, Argentina, and Mexico in just the last three months,” says Castro. These initiatives reflect a vision of growth based on the diversification of operations and the strengthening of advanced technologies, contributing to more sustainable and efficient aquaculture globally.
