Startup linked to salmon farming is recognized at World Sustainability Congress 2023
Chile: The Chilean firm Kran stole the spotlight at the global event where the actions being carried out to reduce the carbon footprint and face climate change were announced.
Hundreds of business sustainability leaders came to Amsterdam to participate in a new version of the World Sustainability Congress 2023, where they were able to learn more about the actions being carried out around the world to reduce the carbon footprint and strategies to face climate change in the coming years.
In this initiative, it was a Chilean enterprise that stole the attention of the attendees. Kran, a company located in Puerto Varas, was one of the nine startups recognized in the short list of the “100+ Startup Of The Year Award” awarded during the congress.
This venture, which is dedicated to the development of solutions through nanobubble technology generating a productive and environmental impact, was developed six years ago through salmon farming, being a contribution to reduce the gaps that the various production processes led.
Kran’s general manager, Jaime De la Cruz, said: “We are very happy for this recognition. For us, this is a confirmation that we are on the right track, raising technological solutions that are a real and transversal contribution that go hand in hand with sustainability.”
“Kran was born under the wing of salmon farming and today it is also present in the agricultural and industrial world, with offices in Puerto Varas, Santiago and California.”
“This is part of what this productive sector has meant, which has not only been an economic engine for the country, but also a space for national companies to be at the forefront of the world in the development of new technologies, allowing not only salmon to be exported, but also Chilean intelligence.”
The president of SalmonChile, Arturo Clément, the union of which the outstanding company is a member, said that “for us it is a source of pride to see that an undertaking like Kran becomes recognized worldwide. This shows that salmon farming is developing and promoting innovative and technological startups, which are a contribution to improving the environmental performance of both our productive sector and that of others. Congratulations to Kran and his great team.”
