NANOBUBBLES IN IRRIGATION OF FRUIT TREES

INCREASE IN CALIBER AND PERFORMANCE

Benefits for the plant and the farmer!

With our applications of nanobubbles in fruit tree irrigation, it is possible to obtain benefits for the plant such as:

  • Increased available oxygen
  • Improved nutrient absorption
  • Better root development

And benefits for the farmer, such as:

  • Increased caliber and weight
  • Improved performance

Methodology

A trial was carried out on Pink Lady apple trees to evaluate the impact of the use of nanobubbles (NB) applied through technified irrigation on the commercial production of an apple producing company, located in the commune of Longaví, Maule Region.

A total of 24.82 ha were treated with NB, in addition to a 1.42 ha sector that was used as a control (without NB). The sectors from which the samples were obtained have a planting frame of 4×1 meters.

The trial began on October 15, 2021 (pre-set) and ended on April 26, 2022. The fruit was harvested on May 2, 2022 and processed during that same week.

Results

  • Increase of 16.7% in yield per hectare.
  • An 18% increase in the average weight per fruit.
  • Increase in fruit by 66% in larger sizes (sizes 70, 80 and 90).
  • Decrease of 47% of fruit in smaller sizes (sizes 135, 150 and 165).

How nanobubbles work

  • Size – Cubic Capacity: NBs allow high saturations of available oxygen in the soil to be reached thanks to their mass transfer property associated with their size and contact surface, achieving better root development and greater nutrient absorption.
  • Stability: This property allows saturation to be maintained over time and O2 to be delivered progressively and prolonged, achieving a better development of aerobic microorganisms involved in the fixation and absorption of nutrients.
  • Free Radical Release: When imploding, NBs generate free radicals, which play an essential role in the soil such as signaling, metabolism and nutrient uptake, as well as being important for cell growth and elongation.
  • Decrease in Surface Tension: The decrease in surface tension allows for greater availability of water in the soil by being evenly distributed in the wetting bulb and allowing it to better penetrate the micropores.
