PRIMARY TREATMENT

WITH NANOBUBBLES

OPERATIONAL IMPROVEMENTS

Add nanobubbles to your water treatment!

Primary treatments, also known as physicochemical treatments, are those that mainly remove suspended solids present in the medium.

The main processes that can be included in this treatment are the following: sedimentation, flotation, coagulation – flocculation and filtration.

Nanobubbles generate a striking physical-chemical interaction in the medium in which they are found, making it possible to obtain operational improvements:

• Increased removal of suspended solids and organic loading
• Reduction of chemicals used (coagulant and flocculant)
Buffer effect on pH maintenance

Methodology

We incorporate DAF Dissolve Air Flotation equipment, settlers, equalizers or other equipment in which the effect of nanobubbles is useful.

Our installation can be both online and parallel to the existing primary treatment, without the need for a major intervention. We can work under different conditions, in both small and large streams, liquid waste from different types of industries and/or with high variation of input parameters.

The type of installation and operation of our technology is subject to the need of the client in conjunction with our panel of professionals, delivering a customized solution.

Results

• Up to 26% decrease in TSS (Total Suspended Solids)
• Up to 27% decrease in COD (biochemical oxygen demand)
• Savings of 25% flocculant and 40% coagulant
• Up to 60% increase in oxygenation level
• Increased equipment removal efficiency by around 3%

How nanobubbles work

  • Coagulant/flocculant effect (separates and joints): Nanobubbles have a surface charge, which is measured by one of their main properties, the zeta potential. Through this electrical interaction, the nanobubble interacts with the particles suspended in the medium, attracting them (destabilizing them – coagulating effect) and then generating a particle with greater weight that gradually becomes larger (flocculant effect). This interaction makes it possible to avoid to some extent the amount of chemicals used.
  • Reduction of organic load and suspended solids: Due to its coagulating/flocculant effect and its small size , an even greater removal is achieved, as it interacts nanometrically with the particles to remove them.
